GET PICKY MAY INSPIRATION CHALLENGE

This is the first time I have played along at GET PICKY as I don't usually scrap more than one photo but I loved this challenge so much that I made an exception!

This challenge is an inspiration challenge to scrap about yourself using this quote.

The quote made me think about all the adventures and crazy random things that I have done in my life that really make up my life. For me thats what the quote is all about, so i choose this old polaroid of me taken from the passenger seat of my car by one of my best friends. We were on a very impromtu, random road trip from Melbourne to Canberra to get my working holiday maker visa to the UK. I had left it to the absolute LAST MINUTE and the British Consulate couldn't guarantee I would get it in time unless it was lodged in person in Canberra. So myself and two friends piled into my car and off we went. We had a great time, we went to the galleries, out dancing and even visited some special adult stores in Canberra. It was the start of many years of adventure for me!

And some close ups!

I had an awesome time making this very messy arty page. I took a book that I had just read that was terrible! and ripped it to shreds and glued it over a piece of cardstock, then added mist, paint, mesh, paper, ribbons and much more.

Kraft it up - May Challenge - NO PATTERNED PAPER!

What no patterned paper!!!  I'm addicted to the stuff so when I read this challenge I was like, no way jose, can't do that! But hey it's a challenge isn't it - its not supposed to be easy its supposed to push your creativity! So in I jumped. And this was the result, and you know what, I quite like it!

In lieu of patterned paper I used a mix of shipping tags, paint, rub ons, fabric, chipboard, old clothes tags, mesh and some corrugated cardboard. See it can be done, I did miss my patterned paper but I managed to produce a pretty good layout. It may seem I've gone a bit mad with the red paint this month but I promise it ends here!

May 123 Challenge!!

The challenge at 123 Challenge this month was excellent! I really enjoyed doing this one. The criteria were

WORD : FUN
COLOUR: Fire Engine Red
TECHNIQUE: STITCHED TITLE!

So here is my take on the challenge

A little while ago over a Chat with Charm there was a discussion post about favourite colour combos. Well my absolute FAV colour combo at the moment in grey, aqua, yellow and pink.

I blame the uber talented Susan Weinroth. She posted some layouts of her son using grey, aqua and yellow and I was hooked! Up until that moment I had never even thought of using grey as a base, let alone adding blue and yellow. Of course grey is a great neutral, just look outside today! Mother nature is never wrong!

So here are two layouts I've done recently using grey - one light shade and the other darker. I was pretty happy with these layouts - dont you just love it when you actually 'LIKE' a layout!

Please excuse the carpet - no one should be exposed to that, but I promise it's going soon!

123 April Challenge

So the challenge over at "123 challenge" is the word "really", the colour lime and Fabric!

Here is my take on that.

It was great to use some fabric on a layout. It's not something I usually do and I don't know why because I have so much scrap fabric (you know those scraps you cannot bear to part with but really have no use!) Well I think I've found a use for them now. Thanks 123!

I had these 'first day of school' pictures I wanted to scrap but seeing that my daughters uniform is PURPLE and GOLD ( i know but as i told her 'you all look ridiculous TOGETHER) they proved a bit of a challenge. This challenge was a god send because the green worked really well with the purple and gold!

SCRAP THE GIRLS - APRIL CHALLENGE

The challenge for SCRAP THE GIRLS in April is a picture inspiration.

At first I had NO IDEA what to do with this picture. I mean it's SCRAP THE GIRLS and there is NO PINK anywhere, I mean how do you SCRAP GIRLS with NO FLIPPIN PINK! Well I guess thats why they call it a challenge eh?

So with that in mind here is my layout.

I drew inspiration from the tree in the picture, but I couldn't resist adding some PINK in there.
This is a terrible photo - sorry.

SCRAP THE BOYS - APRIL CHALLENGE

Here is my take on SCRAP THE BOYS - APRIL CHALLENGE

http://scraptheboys.blogspot.com/
THE CHALLENGE IS TO GET INSPIRED BY AN OUTFIT THAT YOUR SON OR HUSBAND WEARS TO CREATE A LAYOUT...

I chose to scrap about the kinder T-Shirt my son is wearing. He loves being a kinder boy and I really wanted to scrap about how much he loves kinder and how proud he is to wear the T-Shirt.

I took handprints of all my kids recently and really wanted to put Ethan's on this layout but it just wasn't working so I decided to use the handprint as a mask instead and mist over it. I was pretty happy with the result. I ended up using the handprint on another layout about his handprint and how small he is now.
