White with One - June Challenge

YES, YES, YES!!!

The criteria at WW1 this month was right up my alley! I was so excited when I saw
WHITE + RED + CIRCLES OR POLKA DOTS
I had the perfect photo - a picture of my beloved Kitchen Aid mixer. She is the love of my life. If the house was on fire, she would be the second thing I would take, after the kids but before the cats! Sorry cats!
There's lots of paint, lots of misting with Mister Huey's Schoolhouse ( Love my Mister Huey's - if you haven't tried them give them a go they are AWESOME!), some felt hearts, some machine stitching and the photo is matted on red polka dot fabric! And check out that gorgeous Charm's Creation lollipop in the corner!

The journalling reads " if it's wrong to love this machine then i don't want to be right." This was a fun layout to create!

June 123 Challenge

Wow it certainly was a challenge over at 123 Challenge is month!
The criteria was

June 123 Challenge

COLOUR: BROWN
WORD: CREATE
TECHNIQUE: USING TAPE - DECORATIVE/MASKING

When I think of brown I think of vintage but I didn't want to scrap an old photo, I wanted to scrap this family photo. So over  I went to photoshop for some sepia tones, out came the sand paper to rough things up a bit and a little mixed media background resulted in this!

I glued an old pattern to some cardstock and sprayed some Dark Calico Mister Huey (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Mister Huey!!) over it. I am pretty happy with how it turned out too.

For the tape element I've used masking tape, 7Gypsies gaffer tape and also some handmade tape with book print on it. I wish I could say that was my idea but alas it wasn't! It was in fact the brain child of the uber talented Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. I just happened on a tutorial for making this tape on her blog a few days before seeing this challenge - serendipitous I feel!

I took a bit of a liberty with the word CREATE and went with 'creation'. I hope that's ok :-)!

Scrap the Girls - June

The challenge for June over at Scrap The Girls is a colour challenge, and it is AWESOME!

Here is what I have done with those colours!

And some detail shots too!

Loving those hot air balloon rubons from Kaisercraft!

GET PICKY MAY INSPIRATION CHALLENGE

This is the first time I have played along at GET PICKY as I don't usually scrap more than one photo but I loved this challenge so much that I made an exception!

This challenge is an inspiration challenge to scrap about yourself using this quote.

The quote made me think about all the adventures and crazy random things that I have done in my life that really make up my life. For me thats what the quote is all about, so i choose this old polaroid of me taken from the passenger seat of my car by one of my best friends. We were on a very impromtu, random road trip from Melbourne to Canberra to get my working holiday maker visa to the UK. I had left it to the absolute LAST MINUTE and the British Consulate couldn't guarantee I would get it in time unless it was lodged in person in Canberra. So myself and two friends piled into my car and off we went. We had a great time, we went to the galleries, out dancing and even visited some special adult stores in Canberra. It was the start of many years of adventure for me!

And some close ups!

I had an awesome time making this very messy arty page. I took a book that I had just read that was terrible! and ripped it to shreds and glued it over a piece of cardstock, then added mist, paint, mesh, paper, ribbons and much more.
